Media Studies Blog
Welcome to my Media Studies blog.
I have never studied Media before and this will be my first year doing so. I have done video editing and photo editing before so i should have a slight advantage over other students. I am looking forward to recording and editing my work.
I have previously worked in Adobe Photoshop and Sony Vegas Pro.
Here i will be sharing my camera shots and my editing work.
Deodorant compilation.
This was the first editing task we were assigned, we were instructed to make a short video showing different deodorants throughout the years. Here is my video:
Kuleshov effect.
This was our first real task using cameras in our media lesson, we were told to go out around the school and record the Kuleshov effect, which is when the audience mentally gains more information from two shots than one. I partnered up with Emily for this project and we recorded, edited and rendered this video in the space of an hour. Here is my video.
John Lewis advert brief.
The next task we received was purely an editing task. We were instructed to make the 2015 John Lewis internet to last exactly 1 minute. This task mainly consisted of removing shots or removing a few frames from each shot. I personally chose to just remove some of the unimportant shots in the advert which didn't mean anything towards the message of the advert. The total time of the edited clip was exactly one minute.
Kitchen Nightmares Trailer Brief
In this brief we needed to edit an hour long episode of kitchen nightmares into a minute long trailer, the audio on the original clip was out of sync, i did my best to fix it and make it in sync. my advert was exactly 1 minute.
What a surprise
This was our first real film making task and we had to make a video with multiple shots and an understanding of film continuity.
Cereal Advert
In this Brief we had to show a good understanding of film continuity, the 180 degree rule and basic film making skills such as recording and editing.
This is my edit of our groups clips.
